CA Executive Order on the Wearing of Masks
CA Executive Order on the Wearing of Masks
On June 18, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state-wide order on Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings (the "Order"). A link to the Order can be found here. The Order mandates that face coverings be worn state-wide when (1) inside of, or in line to enter, any indoor public space, or (2) engaged in work, whether at the workplace or performing work off-site, when: (a) interfacing in-person with any member of the public; (b) working in any space visited by members of the public, regardless of whether anyone from the public is present at the time; (c) working in or walking through common areas, such as hallways, stairways, elevators, and parking facilities; and (d) in any room or enclosed area where other people (except for members of the person's own household or residence) are present when unable to physically distance, among other situations. There are categories of individuals who are exempt from the mandates of the Order, which include (1) persons with a medical condition; mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering; and (2) persons for whom wearing a face covering would create a risk to the person related to their work, among other exemptions.
