New York Paid Family Leave Paycheck Deductions and Benefits Rise
New York Paid Family Leave (NYPFL) is funded solely by employee paycheck deductions. In 2020, the deduction rate increases from the 2019 rate of 0.153% of gross wages up to an annual maximum of $107.97 to 0.271% of gross wages up to an annual maximum of $196.72. The NYPFL benefit payable to a qualified employee from the employer’s NYPFL disability insurance carrier also rises in 2020 from 55% to 60% of the employee’s average wages capped at 60% of the state average weekly wage for up to 10 weeks, which translates to a maximum weekly benefit of approximately $840.70.
