New I-9 Form Released
On January 31, 2020, the federal government published its new Form I-9. The form is usable immediately, and employers must switch exclusively to the new form by April 30, 2020 for new hires on or after that date or face penalties. Using an outdated I-9 form is treated as the equivalent of not I-9-ing at all. The new I-9 form has minimal changes from the prior version. Most of the small clarifying changes occur in the I-9 instructions and not the form itself. EP will include the new I-9 form in its payroll start packets for clients by the April 30th deadline.
