December 31, 2020 Deadline for Mandatory Harassment Training in Illinois for All Employees

Employers with a workforce in Illinois (including employers with one or more employees in Chicago) must have provided sexual harassment training to Illinois employees by December 31, 2020. Then, starting January 1, 2021, employers must provide the training once per calendar year. FAQs issued by the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) are viewable here. The IDHR states in its FAQs that the training should be provided as soon as possible after hire and that training time must be paid as work time. The IDHR also offers a free webinar version of the training, but it is not on demand and is available only on specified dates.
