Ray Carpenter
Ray Carpenter serves as Chief Financial Officer of DIRECTV, a media distribution company that delivers entertainment and advertising services to US based households and commercial locations. DIRECTV generates approximately $20B in annual revenue through the service of ~11M customers supported by ~8K dedicated employees. Ray oversees all financial functions for DIRECTV, in addition to leading DIRECTV’s Strategy, Corporate Development, and Sourcing functions.
Ray has held multiple leadership positions across the media, telecommunication, and advertising industries. His post graduate career began with AT&T in 2004, as a member of their financial leadership program. Subsequently, he led teams at AT&T with increasing responsibilities in financial planning, merger integration, investor relations and as a divisional CFO. Throughout Ray’s career, he has been asked to lead transformative change initiatives, including new business launches, enterprise-wide cost structure improvements, and complex integrations. In partnership with TPG and AT&T, He led the operational and financial initiatives to fund and carveout DIRECTV as a standalone entity. Prior to his current role, Ray led AT&T’s Transformation Office, where he was responsible for delivering more than $6B in net company savings over a three-year period. He has also served as the CFO of Xandr, a newly formed advertising company within AT&T, that generated $2 billion in revenue while operating a global advertising marketplace.
Ray is a CFA® Charterholder and holds an M.B.A. from Texas Christian University along with a B.A. from Sonoma State University.
