The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has published Notice 2016-4, which extends the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 6055 and 6056 filing deadline for certain forms required to be filed by employers and health plans under the Affordable Care Act.

If an employer or health plan had formally requested an extension of the filing deadline, the IRS will not act on their request, since it is extending the deadline for all filers. No additional extensions will be permitted with the above new deadlines.

The notice also provides guidance to individuals who might not receive a Form 1095-B or Form 1095-C by the time they file their 2015 tax returns. For 2015 only, individuals who rely upon other information received from employers or health plans need not amend their tax returns once they receive their forms.

Entertainment Partners intends to utilize the new information reporting dates to allow our government reporting clients to submit complete data and for us to better review the data provided for Forms 1094-C and 1095-C employer reporting.

We will follow-up in the New Year with revised submission dates for your payroll and/or insurance data. For clients who continue to gather data, please do not decelerate your pursuit since no extensions will be given on future deadlines.
