Derrick Boston joined Entertainment Partners’ Executive Team in 2023. He is an accomplished business leader and attorney with 15+ years of experience as a Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel of fast-paced, emerging and high-growth companies. Derrick has led sophisticated corporate and finance transactions, advised on strategy and corporate development, managed legal matters for international operations (including Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK) and initiated and delivered change management, performance improvement, team building and mentoring.
Prior to joining EP, he served as Chief Legal Officer of Virgin Orbit Holdings, Inc., the Richard Branson company which launched rockets from under the wing of a 747 airplane to take satellites into low-earth orbit. At Virgin Orbit, he established and led the legal department, managed all aspects of the legal function for more than six years and took the company public in 2021. During his tenure, he also served for five years as Chief Administrative Officer, supervising the Information Technology, Enterprise Software, Facilities and Security teams. Prior to Virgin Orbit, he was EVP, Business Development & General Counsel of Panavision, which rents cameras and lenses for producing movies, TV shows and commercials. At Panavision, he led the successful negotiation and closing of multiple acquisitions, corporate financing transactions and restructurings and managed all of the company’s legal matters across its global operations. He also served as President of Panavision’s Advanced Imaging Group, with P&L responsibility for three Panavision subsidiaries.
Derrick currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the California Minority Counsel Program and the Board of Trustees of the Da Vinci Schools. A former partner at the law firms Irell & Manella LLP and Guth | Christopher LLP, Derrick received his BA from Harvard University and his JD from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He is an avid golfer and follower of English Premier League football.
